For our first event, we are very excited to be welcoming speaker, producer and consultant, Hana Ayoob who will discuss Barriers in Science Communication & Engagement.

What you can expect:

The diversity of our audiences, the diversity of the people communicating or engaging with them, and the diversity of those supporting science communication and engagement behind the scenes is all interlinked. We’ll talk through the different barriers affecting these three groups of people, discuss the impact this can have on our events and projects, and how we can all improve our science communication and engagement work. 

Our Speaker:

Hana Ayoob is a creative producer, trainer and speaker working in science communication and public engagement. Over the years, she has worked with science festivals, universities, small charities and other organisations on a range of projects and events. Hana co-hosts the science and technology podcast Why Aren’t You a Doctor Yet? And is a co-founder of Minorities in STEM, a UK network which supports and showcases BAME individuals working and studying in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.

Venue Access:

Participants should note that we can confirm the workshop will be have the following access provisions: Wheelchair accessible, lift access, access for guide animals (please indicate in advance), hearing loop provision, gender-neutral bathrooms, pronoun badges, prayer room on campus. Quiet spaces available for sensory breaks and/or breastfeeding or expressing milk (please indicate in advance).
